Antique Armoires & Linen Presses

Germany. Circa 1820.

German oak kas with bracket top, raised panel doors, chamfered and fluted corners, two drawers, block feet.  Compass inlay on frieze and doors.  Unique raised panel sides are a graceful curvilinear addition to the overall rectilinear appearance of this cupboard.  The doors secure with a single lock, but the drawers have no lock, per se, however, a peg through the floor of the cupboard secures the right-hand drawer and is a possible later attempt at security.

Holland. Circa 1800.

This is a large mahogany linen press having shaped doors with applied moldings over bombe base with four drawers (2 over 2). The waved, arching pediment sets the tone for the lines below. Beautifully grained mahogany is used throughout this magnificent and imposing piece.

The Netherlands. Cira 1840.

Large Dutch, pale oak linen press with applique mouldings on recessed panel doors, half column sides with ebonized treatment and having brass mounts over deeply fluted and chamfered base on spade feet. Interior features five shallow drawers while exterior base has three very large drawers with brass ring pulls.

France. Circa 1850.

Constructed of the finest walnut we’ve seen, this bonnetiere has a single, large door with two recessed panels.  With a scalloped apron separating two French feet, this large cabinet is raised off the floor and given a lighter appearance than one would imagine is possible for such an imposing presence.  Storage space abounds inside, with a depth that can easily be retrofitted to accommodate the largest of hangers.

Walnut, two door wardrobe with broken pediment crown and column sides with brass mounts. Recessed panel doors over single drawer with matching escutcheons; drawer pulls have interesting scallop backplates.
