George I Walnut Chest on Stand
United Kingdom. Circa 1720.
Early 18th century, George I, Walnut chest on stand. Drawers feature finely figured and feather banded fronts with the linings constructed with English walnut. The base is largely original, with the usual historical replacement stretchers and legs. Later but historically accuratte brass drop handles on brass wires. The top of the chest was veneered in quarted walnut panels with feathered banding at later date, which was customary.
