George III Mahogany Drum Table

England. Circa 1820.

This is a superb example of an English mahogany drum table. The handsome grain has achieved an incredible patina--the rich, warm tone of the wood is barely captured in this photograph--one must see this table in person to truly appreciate the color. The flame grain on the drawer fronts and the scroll carving of the feet are exemplary; combined with the pleasing proportions, these add up to make this a very desirable table.
