Carved Oak Coffer

England. Circa 1720.

This is 18th century coffer displays intricate carving on its exterior panels, including two coats of arms on the front panels.  It has been outfitted with myriad trays for silver storage. Two drawers with brass lion's head ring pulls at the base provide additional storage.

19th Century Seaman's Chest

Victorian. Circa 19th century.

19th century seaman's chest painted in US Naval motif. Retains original rope handles knotted by the sailor who took this chest to sea. These chests contained all the worldly possessions a sailor would take to sea. Not many of these chests still survive.

19th Century Welsh Seaman's Chest

United Kingdom. Circa 19th century.

19th century Welsh seaman's chest with original painting of the sailor's ship on the underside of the lid. Retains original rope handles knotted by the sailor who took this chest to sea. These chests contained all the worldly possessions a sailor would take to sea. Not many of these chests still survive.

Carved Mule Chest

Ireland. Circa 1790.

Elm, two-drawer mule chest, probably of Irish origin. Three fielded panels on the front with carved foliate decoration and original steel escutcheon lock plate. The two drawers are pine lined and have original brass, escutcheon plates and locks.
